After implementing the ability to pause and resume voicemail recording in late January, WhatsApp Now it has made official the launch of a long-awaited feature by users: the playback of audio in the background.
Available from version 22.4.75 of the iOS application, this novelty will allow users to listen to voice notes and audio files even if they leave the chat in question and visit other sections of the platform.

When you do, a mini player at the top of the screen. In this way, the content will remain visible from any section, such as the settings panel, the chat history, the status area or the calls and video calls tab.
In turn, you can access different basic controls, such as pause, resume and discard. Before this update, audio playback stopped automatically when leaving the conversation window to access other parts of WhatsApp.
This tool is especially useful when playing long voice notes, since it offers the possibility of executing other activities within the platform simultaneously.

Although in this initial stage the new function is available exclusively in the iOS application, it is expected that the company will later incorporate it in the version of WhatsApp for Android devices.
