After announcing it at the end of January, microsoft has officially released this Tuesday February 15 the first major update to Windows 11 (KB5010414), which offers a new selection of experiences, features, and improvements.
The main novelty is the launch of a public preview version of Android applications on Windows, which can be installed through Microsoft Store thanks to an integration with the catalog of Amazon App Store.

As detailed by the company, running Android apps and games will feel “familiar, effortless and integrated.” Users will have the ability to place them side by side, pin them to the taskbar, and interact with them using mouse, touch, or pen input.

The OS update also introduces two new redesigned apps: memo padwhich now includes multi-step undo, an improved search interface and dark mode support, and media playerwhich replaces Groove Music and Windows Media Player.
On the other hand, the new version of Windows 11 adds the ability to mute and unmute a call from Microsoft Teams from the taskbar, as well as the possibility of sharing open application windows in video calls in an easier way.

Other new features of the Windows 11 update
- Adds the clock and date to the taskbars of other monitors that are connected to the computer.
- Adds weather content to the left side of the taskbar if the taskbar is center-aligned.
- Opens the Microsoft Office files found in the recommendations section of the start menu in the browser if the device does not have an active license for the service.
- Introduces support for Windows Hello for Business Cloud Trust, a new deployment model for hybrid versions of Windows Hello for Business.
- Provides the ability to share cookies between Microsoft Edge Internet Explorer mode and Microsoft Edge.
- Adds support for hot adding and removing non-volatile memory (NVMe) namespaces.
