Windows 11 may go down in history as one of the worst-received systems in microsoft. Since its release, the OS has been surrounded by controversy, from its complex technical requirements to the broken promise of Windows 10. Now, a recent survey shows another hard fact: it has not surpassed its big brother from 20 years ago, the mythical Windows XP.
The survey was conducted by the information technology company lansweeper. The focus was obviously to see how long the adoption of Windows 11 has been since its launch in October 2011, especially in the business sector, where packages for hundreds of computers are often purchased.

Survey: Windows 11 does not beat Windows XP
The results are clear. Of the total of 10 million devices (including desktops and laptops), only 1.44% have some version of Windows 11.
Two systems that are no longer officially supported by Microsoft outperform Windows 11 by percentage points. Among them is the famous Windows XP, an operating system launched more than 20 years ago and which currently has 1.71% of the general share of the survey.
Windows 7, another system without support (but which can still be updated) and released in 2009, currently has a share of 4.7% of all users.
Windows 10 is still king
For its part, another survey of a larger sample (30 million devices) reveals that Windows 10 continues to lead the preference in offices. 80.34% still use this OS launched in 2015 and, even if they wanted to, not many can upgrade to it. Windows 11 for its minimum requirements.
Only 44% of this second sample exceeded the requirements necessary to install Windows 11.
Difference with Steam
The recent metrics published by Steam (the PC gaming platform with the most users) show higher adoption numbers for Windows 11. Still, we must take into account that this audience tends to opt for more modern hardware.
