Every day, billions of users use WhatsApp to send text messages, photos, videos, files and audios, which are received by another person instantly. This has meant a change in the way Internet users communicate, as more and more users join the application to communicate. So much so that WhatsApp has developed a series of methods that seek to protect the privacy of our conversations.
These are end-to-end encrypted backups, a completely native method that Android or iOS users will be able to access. The best thing is that it will not be necessary to download a third-party app. Next, we leave you the steps to follow so that you activate this function.

How to activate end-to-end encrypted backup?
- Enter the application of WhatsApp from an Android or iOS device
- Press the three-dot icon (⋮) to display the main menu
- Access the dashboard “Settings”
- Go to the section of “chats” > backup
- Click on the option end-to-end encrypted backup
- Press the button Activate and follow the steps to Create a password
- touch the button create to encrypt your backups.
Once you use this feature, every time you back up your chat history to iCloud and Google Drive, you will be much more protected. Also, every time you restore your WhatsApp account on a new device, you will have to enter the password you previously chose.
Finally, you must take into account that the password you generate for the backup will be confidential, because neither WhatsApp, Facebook, Google or Apple will be able to access it. Therefore, if you forget it and lose your smartphone, the company will not be able to help you recover the backup.
