TikTok has become one of the most popular entertainment platforms today, even displacing Instagram already own Facebook. Like other social networks, the Chinese app allows users to find their friends through various methods; however, this can be uncomfortable for those Internet users who do not want their content to be seen by relatives and some acquaintances. There is a way to avoid it and here we show you how you can do it.
Although it is normal for TikTok videos to go viral among its millions of userssome prefer to remain anonymous and that their content is not recommended to their close circle such as family and friends.
Step by step to prevent my friends and family from seeing my TikTok videos
The TikTok trick that allows us to hide our videos from friends and family does not need third-party applications, since it is a feature of the Chinese social network. One of the first actions to take is to put your private account. By doing so, only users you approve will be able to follow you and view your videos. Do the following:

- Access TikTok as you normally would and, once here, tap on the icon in the lower right corner to get to your profile.
- Now enter the settings section by clicking on the icon of the three lines in the upper right corner.
- Once we get to the list of settings, we will have to enter the ‘Privacy’ menu.
- Finally, you just have to activate the option with the name of ‘Private account’.

After completing this process in TikTok, in the same privacy section you must also configure the recommendations and contact synchronization options. Follow the instructions below:
- In ‘recommend your account to others’, deactivate the options: contacts, friends of Facebook and users with common contacts.
- Under ‘sync contacts and Facebook friends’, disable the options: sync contacts and sync Facebook friends.
