In recent months, the efforts of the European Parliament have been remarkable to finally find a solution to the lack of standardization in some of the implements included in the smartphones. There is a lot of problems around, especially since many manufacturers have chosen not to include chargers or headphones, presumably to take care of the environment. Now, a policy seeks that, at least, everyone uses the same Type of cableand the motion is taking shape and pointing to none other than Manzana and their iPhones.
As has been known for decades, Apple has always chosen to present equipment with proprietary hardware or at least sufficiently differentiated from other similar devices. Cupertino would obviously be the most affected by the regulations, since they would finally force them to adopt ports as common as the USB-C on their phones.

Everyone wants USB-C
Last Wednesday, April 20, members of the European Union Parliament voted in favor of establishing the USB-C system as the standard connection port on all electronic devices. It is worth mentioning that this motion was proposed in mid-2021.
The so-called “radio equipment directive” aims to reduce confusion among consumers about cable types and also reduce electronic waste (e-waste) generated by the proliferation of other types of ports.
Apple would have no excuse
Cupertino already has products with standard USB-C ports available in its catalog. Many of the ipads Y macbooks More recent ones have this 24-pin connection, but they are still far from the iPhone in favor of the lightning portcompany proprietary design.
An engineering student managed mold an iPhone with a USB-C port in November 2021 and even published the instructions online. Apple’s excuse for resisting change is that there should be a standard on the end of the cable and not on the port itself. Under this point of view, the Lightning to USB-C adapters that they market could still be valid.
