Many institutions and technology companies have shown their disapproval of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, for which they have imposed some ‘sanctions’ through blockades and further actions.
According to the European media outlet Nexta, the companies AMD and Intel, the most important manufacturers and developers of computer components, would stop selling their products to Russia.

Other sources reinforce this information indicating that the two companies would have temporarily suspended deliveries of their products such as processors and video cards in Russian territory.
Confirmation of this fact was given by a member of the Association of Russian Electronics Manufacturers and Developers (ARPE); however, neither Intel nor AMD have made any statement in this regard. They only mentioned that the company “is closely monitoring the situation and ensuring compliance with the sanctions.”

It should be noted that these companies are the largest in their field and that the Russians use the chips to make computers, data storage systems and other electronic equipment.
Also, Intel and AMD processors are used in the supercomputers of Sberbank, Moscow State University, Yandex and MTS.

That is why the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Digital Development have set themselves the task of creating an alternative to Intel and AMD processors.
