One of the first mistakes we make when upgrading our computers is not being clear about how much memory we have, how much is needed to run the desired programs, and how far I can extend the memory. Let’s take into account the function that the computer is going to fulfill and what kind of programs we need to install. For example, programs from the Adobe or Autocad package require at least 3 GB of RAM.

How much memory do I need?
If you normally require image editing programs, if you will use your computer for gaming or another program that needs more memory, remember that 4 GB is standard RAM, so the ideal is to have 8 GB of RAM if desired applications run smoothly and correctly.
How much memory does it support?
In a normal and recent computer, the limit of RAM memory is determined by the number of “slots” it has. These resemble slots into which extension memory can be attached. For each slot you can increase 16 GB of RAM. In that sense, if it has two “slots” the capacity can reach 32 GB and if it has four “slots” its scope is 64 GB.
