New complaint. the community of Fortnite already live the experience of playing the new mode without construction; however, in the offices of Epic Games They face a new problem. Recently, it was reported that a choreographer accuses the company of stealing a dance to turn it into a gesture from Fortnite: Battle Royale.
Kyle Hanagami, a choreographer who is known for posting dance routines on YouTube, has filed a lawsuit against Epic Games. In it, he accuses the company of steal one of his choreographies to develop the gesture It’s complicatedwhich came to Fortnite: Battle Royale in August 2020 as Season 3 content.
According to Hanagami, Epic Games used the dance steps for a choreography with the song “How long” by Charlie Puth. The routine was very popular and has more than 35.7 million views since it was published in 2007. The dancer claims that the company stole from him without compensating him or asking for his consent.
As can be seen, the emote has the same steps as the choreography, although only the beginning, since the rest have other steps. Also, the Fortnite emote doesn’t use the same song as the video he uploaded to YouTube in which he introduced the dance to the world. However, the similarities are evident and it seems difficult that it is a coincidence.
