Google officially announced YouTube Go six years ago, as an official light version of YouTube, designed for slow connections and simple smartphones with Android Go. However, now the company has informed its community that they are going to close the application in august of this same year.
After Google permanently closed YouTube Vanced, another alternative that will disappear is YouTube Go. Instead, the company recommends users move to the official version of YouTube or that they access from the web.
With the launch of Android Go, Google has created minimalist versions of their applications followed by the term Go. One of these is YouTube Go, which claimed to be more practical in areas where the Internet connection is unstable. For this reason, videos could be downloaded to the cell phone to see them later.

And it didn’t come down to that, but rather the app is lighter, managing to be suitable for cell phones with little storage space. Once downloaded, YouTube Go uses about 40 MB of storagecompared to 150 MB, not counting data and cache, of the official one.
Now it is announced that YouTube Go will close from august. Thus, in addition to not being updated very frequently, it already shows a banner that invites you to switch to the normal version of YouTube.
Between the reasons that led to Google to justify the end of the service, it is known that the standard YouTube app has improved performance for slow networks and less powerful computers.
